Novak Family History

Novak was originally spelled Nowak.

My husband’s Grandfather was Wladyslaw Nowak born 1879 in Plock Poland. In 1898, he married Wadyslova Kolk who was born in Leipsig, Germany. He came to the United States in 1899, Lottie came a year later—to Chicago, Illinois. He worked cleaning railroad cars there in Chicago. They had four children in Chicago, and then moved to Rusk Co., Wisconsin—he was one of the first settlers in Conrath, Wisconsin. They had two more children there. Walter was hurt in a farming accident, a head injury, and was in and out of mental aslyum’s until he walked away from Walworth County Aslyum in 1928, and was never seen again. He was declared dead in 1935.

We know there were other cousin’s in the Chicago and Conrath areas, if anyone knows anything about this family please let us know!!!

Lottie Kolk Novak also had family in the Chicago area but I haven’t been able to trace many of them, either.
